Beside the obvious typos, this is a clear and straight forward expression of effectual Calling.
ReplyDeleteI am mindful of Samuel after being 'disturbed' by Saul through the witch, cf 1 Sam. 28. With that idea in mind, one wonders where Lazarus was after dying and before being brought back from there to this side, back into the temporal world where he now had to experience natural death a second time?
The one though that is most forceful in underscoring effectual calling even after the two cited above that way is the indication of what might have become the outcome for the man Paul writes about in 1 Cor. 5?
Here is a man obviously out of touch with Sanctification and the True Spiritual Reality in the Holy Ghost that we are all effectively called into out of this temporal world based in our flesh and soul being ruined by the god of this world, Satan, and the lusts of the flesh and eyes and the pride in possessions in this life/bios.
What does the Holy Ghost teach? He teaches that God gives authority to "men" to bring about a severe outcome to this one's flesh that "his spirit might be saved".
Huh? You just got to love that! Consider this. Satan comes to kill, steal and destroy the life of man. His intent is to derail him from obtaining the "inheritance" promised those commended to God and the Word of His Grace, cf. Acts 20:32 by the effectual calling. The man is living such an immoral life, not even the Gentiles are doing this. But this one is and God has the Apostle, the Lord's Spirit and the Church bring discipline to him to have Satan destroy his flesh so that his spirit might be saved! Satan has to expedite the man's Salvation! I wonder if that just got Satan even more angry with God or this Believer? :)
Another example kind of like it is when Paul turns Alexander and Hymenaeus over to Satan to teach them not to blaspheme!
Huh? Satan is the chief blasphemer and it would seem to me he should delight in teaching them to "blaspheme" not to "not blaspheme"? :) God's ways indeed are not ours and our life is indeed under His control, those of us with this effectual calling upon our life in this life.
God is into saving His people and He exercises His Own Will to do it.
Php 1:6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
