JetBrane at Iron Ink has a nice post providing a quotation from the real Francis Turretin on the topic of the salvation of believers in the Old Testament (link). Although their temporal relationship to the true atonement was different than ours, Old Testament saints were saved the same way that we, New Testament saints, are.

From where, here, I am these days, it seems the aged debate has lost no fire even though the powerful revelation of truth is revealed when one reads with understanding these words of such a one as Turretin:

My question:
how does one know they have violated the "law"? Is it when he violates it or when he comes to obedience to it?
Was the Law of God violated when it happened that this indeed happened?:::>

The key to "Life" in Jesus Christ is clear, "the just shall live by Faith" as our dear Brother wrote already:::>
Hab 2:1 I will take my stand at my watchpost and station myself on the tower, and look out to see what he will say to me, and what I will answer concerning my complaint.
Hab 2:2 And the LORD answered me: "Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.
Hab 2:3 For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end--it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.
Hab 2:4 "Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright within him, but the righteous shall live by his faith.
What is it then that is clear about his vision and yet so lacking in this out of control world controlled by a conspiracy of the beast, the false prophet, Satan, Death and Hades and those whose names are not found written in the book of Life?
One can have a sense of it, where we are going, when we read these Words of Paul the Apostle:::>
Rom 1:1 Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God,
Rom 1:2 which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures,
Rom 1:3 concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh
Rom 1:4 and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord,
Rom 1:5 through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations,
Rom 1:6 including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ,
I say if you do not belong to Christ before you are born, at conception, you simply will pass by the "obedience" of Faith for the "sake" of His Name after you are!
That in and of itself does not guarantee your future, dear believer, while alive in this life/bios. The evil forces have been here longer than any one of us reading these words. They are most skilled at destroying the souls of mankind.
I am fearful and tremble daily in these days, more so now, than when I first began this walk in Christ for the Glory of another, for Him and His Glory!
I do resolve it and so I write it plainly and quote Paul once again:
Rom 16:25 Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages
Rom 16:26 but has now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith--
Rom 16:27 to the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen.
Turretin is a living legend to me and more and more so it is becoming clear as I read his words, quite alive, though he rests in Peace! :)
So, to you who belong to Christ I pray these words of Scripture for you as well:::>
Rom 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
Those who went on before the birth, Life, trial, execution, burial, resurrection and to His Seat at Glory and to those of us after, Hope drives us to breathe our last in these days that God's breath breathes on our Life thereafter! Yes and amen!!
