"An Exceedingly Serious Matter" 722,500 or 722,501
Harold Camping says this is an "extremely serious matter." Perhaps he should recheck his calculations.

Comment Guidelines:
1. Thanks for posting a comment. Without you, this blog would not be interactive.
2. Please be polite. That doesn't mean you have to use kid gloves, but please try not to flame others, even if they are heretics, infidels, or worse.
3. If you insult me, I'm more likely to delete your comment than if you butter me up. After all, I'm human. I prefer praise to insults. If you prefer insults, there's something wrong with you.
4. Please be concise. The comment box is not your blog. Your blog is your blog. If you have a really long comment, post it on your blog and post a short summary of it here.
5. Please don't just spam. It's one thing to be concise, it's another thing to simply use the comment box to advertise.
6. Please note, by commenting here, you are relinquishing your (C) in your comments to me.
7. Remember that you will give an account on judgment day for your words, including those typed in comment boxes. Try to write so you will not be ashamed if it is read back before the entire world.
8. Stay on topic. If your comment has nothing to do with the post, email it to me (my email can be obtained through my blogger profile), or simply don't post it.
9. Don't post as "Anonymous." If you are going to post anonymously, at least use some kind of recognizable "handle," so we can tell you apart from all the other anonymous folks. (This is moot at the moment, since recent abuse has forced me to turn off "anonymous" commenting.)
10. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you; and abstain from doing to others what you would not wish upon yourself.
Naaaah, that would assume a certain level of concern for reality.
ReplyDeleteTruly amazing. What ever happened to Matthew 24:36 or Mark 13:32?
ReplyDeleteWhat does he think an extra 2 days is going to buy him?
ReplyDeleteHow can anyone take him seriously?
ReplyDeleteHe's a bona fide false prophet!
Sad.
In Christ,

Who cares if it is 722,xxx?
ReplyDeleteYou have to see it as 5x10x17 x 5x10x17 = 722,500. But then you need his special code to understand those numbers.
and 722,501 doesn't decompose into 5x10x17 (squared).
ReplyDeleteAs a Catholic and technically an amillennialist I guess, if I am using the phraseolgy correctly, I just scratch my head and wonder what all of the hubbub is about.
ReplyDeleteBut for the sake of trying to understand all of this, is there a reason that Mr. Camping is using the Julian/Gregorian calendars to calculate his date when it would make more sense perhaps that he should be using the Jewish one which calculates leap years differently? And considering the fact that the calendar was not even an exact thing (extra days would be inserted when needed to make sure that Passover occurred in the Springtime) until the 4th century, I don't know how you could even begin to calculate a date. If he thinks his doctrine has a biblical warrant, why would he use a calendar system not endorsed by Scripture?
Also, is the Rapture going to happen when 5/21/11 comes around at the International Date Line, when it is 5/21/11 in Jerusalem, GMT? or when it is 5/21/11 where Harold Camping lives at? Or is the Rapture a rolling event?
Am I wrong in wondering about these things?
Please take this comment as an inquiry to those in your readership far smarter than myself as opposed to a criticism. I would be interested in seeing how this is answered.
God bless!
Mr. Hoffer,
ReplyDeleteI hear Camping has taken into account different time zones...there will be multiple raptures according to time zones. Make sure you're not standing at the Indiana/Illinois border when the rapture comes.
Mr. Hoffer:
ReplyDeleteThe number of days is not dependent on what calendar system you use.
His way of arriving at his initial date is interesting, but it is something he actually tries to back up with some kind of scholarship.
Apparently he thinks it will be a time-zone by time-zone thing.

I thank God you have this much time on your hands! lol.
ReplyDeleteAlso, have you ever engaged the Campingites on PalTalk?
Wouldn't this give him one (or two) less days? That is, wouldn't this change the End to May 20?
ReplyDeleteLooks like the end came ahead of Mr. Camping's schedule for some of TF's blog comments, they've been raptured!
ReplyDeleteBut what of those "left behind"? *gasp*
