One interesting aspect of the story:
Fiala, who was born and raised in Omaha, was drawn to the Catholic Church in the seventh grade, when he met a priest who wrote a letter of recommendation for him to enter the seminary.Meanwhile, John "Black Sheep Dog" Corapi has disappeared.
The priest, Daniel Herek, later became an infamous convicted child sex offender in Nebraska.

ReplyDeleteBack in the day...eegads, "back in the day" sounds like the phrase of an retiree...and well, it is...was responsible for the "outting" of 24 pedophilic Romanist priests "stuffed and hidden" in the military chaplaincies by knowing Romanist Bishops. Only two went to trial in an original court of jurisdiction and both judgements (jail) were upheld on appeal. As to the other 22, there was a technicality to get the pedophiic Chaplains pulled from active duty. And the Bishops knew "how" to pull the plug, pull their Chaplains back to the civilian diocese, and thereby evade military justice. The story is dirty and long.

Of course to refute the notion of being an "ex" in God's Kingdom we have the writings of both Peter and John to guide us out of such a notion:
ReplyDeleteJohn:
Rev 1:6 and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Peter:
1Pe 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
1Pe 2:10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
1Pe 2:11 Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.
1Pe 2:12 Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.
Oh, yes, since we are bringing up Peter's understanding of the Priesthood of the True Believer; and since Peter writes this about the Apostle Paul:
2Pe 3:15 And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him,
2Pe 3:16 as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.
Why not, for good measure, include Paul's own writings, too, about his practice of being a Priest of God to the nations, then?
Here's Paul:
Rom 15:15 But on some points I have written to you very boldly by way of reminder, because of the grace given me by God
Rom 15:16 to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the offering of the Gentiles may be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
Rom 15:17 In Christ Jesus, then, I have reason to be proud of my work for God.
I assert being "proud of my work for God" means I take seriously the notion of being a Priest of the Most High God according to the Word of God and when the Word of God by His Grace through the power of the Holy Spirit illuminates for me within my spirit that I am a part of a Royal Priesthood and a Holy Nation, I should give myself to it making my own personal calling and election sure seeing Christ, the Scriptures teach, retains His Own High position of Royal Priest forever!
Heb 7:14 For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, and in connection with that tribe Moses said nothing about priests.
Heb 7:15 This becomes even more evident when another priest arises in the likeness of Melchizedek,
Heb 7:16 who has become a priest, not on the basis of a legal requirement concerning bodily descent, but by the power of an indestructible life.
Heb 7:17 For it is witnessed of him, "You are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek."
Heb 7:18 For on the one hand, a former commandment is set aside because of its weakness and uselessness
Heb 7:19 (for the law made nothing perfect); but on the other hand, a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God.
Heb 7:20 And it was not without an oath. For those who formerly became priests were made such without an oath,
Heb 7:21 but this one was made a priest with an oath by the one who said to him: "The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind, 'You are a priest forever.'"
Heb 7:22 This makes Jesus the guarantor of a better covenant.
Heb 7:23 The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office,
Heb 7:24 but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever.
