This past week I debated Mr. William Albrecht (Roman Catholic) on the subject of Papal Infallibility. The specific question was whether Vatican I was correct regarding papal infallibility. Naturally, I answered the question in the negative. Here's the video.

ReplyDeleteI greatly appreciated Albrecht's tone of voice and attitude; so much easier to listen to him this time around.
I really need some Monday morning quarterbacking to comprehend just what his point was, centered so tightly focused around that verse in Matthew's Gospel?
I would note that the Apostle Paul, by sheer numbers of occurrences, put a lot of exhortation emphasis behind the Living Church building up and edifying itself in love for one another.
In fact, this is such a clear understanding of necessity, it is reflected perspicaciously in the Book of Hebrews, also, here:
Heb 12:14 Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.
Heb 12:15 See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no "root of bitterness" springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled;
What I believe Roman Catholics and their belief system is attempting is to conflate their mission with this Mission written about by Tertius on behalf of Paul, here:
Rom 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
If there is going to be any binding and loosing it is going to be in the present time through Godly authorities under whatever circumstances necessary for either to occur.
What I am reminded of most, though, is the nature of the Life that we enter into described in the Book of the Revelation and how the Angel dealt with past events during John's short life on earth, his present circumstances and events that he was involved with as the Lord's prisoner and the general nature of the future of his life that he was entering into that all the present elected, adopted, called and chosen will enter into as well, as we most certainly believe Peter, Paul, James, John and countless millions of other members of the True and Living Church throughout all generations before us have enter into already!
This is what he wrote he saw and now he knows and sees it so much more clearly seeing he has discarded his natural man already having been consumed by this Spiritual Body prepared for him that he is actively a part of now:
Rev 22:1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb
Rev 22:2 through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
Rev 22:3 No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him.
This that he saw is Eternity and it is where he has gone to and we will enter into also when once we too leave this place where our natural birth began, the earth, when passing into Paradise and Eternity from here to there!
