Here's the quotation: "We shall no longer be under the Father — except in the more general sense that as creatures we shall always be “under” God. As the fully mature Son sits with his Father on his throne, so shall we (Revelation 3:21; John 17:21-22). We shall be co-elders with the Father and the Son. You tell me if that's James Jordan of "Biblical Horizons" or Joseph Smith of "The Book of Mormon," "The Doctrines of Salvation," etc.
How about this one?

For me, I am not sure the begging thief on the Cross next to Christ would agree with this:

What does my faithfulness have to do with His Grace and Mercy being given to me? At the end of my time on earth, if I leave out of here naked, as in, not wearing His Robe of Righteousness, it makes no difference to God how righteous I kept myself for Him, I am not going into His Heaven to dwell with Them and the Elect for the rest of eternity.
Some verses in the King James Version say it so much better in English than other translations.

There's something to be said about being precise with language and using proper terminology. The quotes by James Jordan are neither.
ReplyDeleteJordan's language seemed precise enough to convey his intent; in fact it was very reminiscent of the language of Isaiah 14:

I think perhaps you've conflated separate ideas collapsing them into one thought.

ReplyDeleteAgeed. I think his words 'are' rank heresy. I've never been a fan of James Jordan for just such misinterpretation of clearly Biblical themes. He's obviously taking a skewed and unwarranted eisegesis of particular verses to come up with these statements he makes. Everything seems to be typology for him, meta themes that he uses to unjustifiably increase the scope of the actual meaning and intent of said verses.
A sound hermeneutic is our friend.
