The real Francis Turretin on: Inerrancy

εξο της παρεμβολης (exotesparemboles) has an interesting post in which he demonstrates from the real Francis Turretin's writings that the doctrine of Inerrancy is not a 20th century development (link to post).

Enjoy!

Excellent quote from our dear Brother Francis!

As I was reading the Turretin quote, I had pop into my mind the incident in Egypt with Pharaoh, Moses, Aaron, Aaron's staff and the magicians.

Here is why inerrancy is so difficult for some to grasp, I suppose?

Exo 7:9 "When Pharaoh says to you, 'Prove yourselves by working a miracle,' then you shall say to Aaron, 'Take your staff and cast it down before Pharaoh, that it may become a serpent.'"
Exo 7:10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the LORD commanded. Aaron cast down his staff before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a serpent.
Exo 7:11 Then Pharaoh summoned the wise men and the sorcerers, and they, the magicians of Egypt, also did the same by their secret arts.

With Christ, everything was and always will be out in the open because He is not like the demons who have only their secret arts to employ against those full of the Truth in the battles of our day.

At the end of the day, the Scepter of Righteousness will swallow up all errant ways of gods and men.

I might add that one can see why the RCC would want to model their religion after Moses and works righteousness than after Moses by Faith in Christ alone:::>

Exo 7:1 And the LORD said to Moses, "See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron shall be your prophet.

It may be that we seem like God to some? But, for those who are His Elect, now this is sufficient:::>

Heb 1:1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets,
Heb 1:2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.
Heb 1:3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
Heb 1:4 having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.

The Righteous in Christ bear the Name of Our Savior, not the excellencies of a pope's papacy!
