Check out this article (link) in which the "Synod of Bishops on the Bible" proposes (with a significant minority vote of opposition) to "allow women to be officially installed in the ministry of lector" (lectella perhaps or lectra?). It's being sold as not that big a deal, I guess, since women were already routinely performing this role without stable ordination. I've seen some small reaction to this movement in Romanist circles, with John Zuhlsdorf seemingly opposed to the idea (link).
Presumably, the "Old Catholics" will simply find this a confirmation of the departure of modern Catholicism from the ancient practices and customs.

In the grand scheme it's the "woman" of the devil and the "Bride" of Christ who go toe to toe to the end where we read this in the Book of the Revelation:
Rev 18:1 After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was made bright with his glory.
Rev 18:2 And he called out with a mighty voice, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place for demons, a haunt for every unclean spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable beast.
Rev 18:3 For all nations have drunk the wine of the passion of her sexual immorality, and the kings of the earth have committed immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown rich from the power of her luxurious living."
Rev 18:4 Then I heard another voice from heaven saying, "Come out of her, my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues;
Rev 18:5 for her sins are heaped high as heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.
The exciting part about this chapter 18 is this verse:::>
Rev 18:20 Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you saints and apostles and prophets, for God has given judgment for you against her!"
How it is all going to play out isn't known to man until it plays out, however, we do know who does know and He is Who He is:::>
Rev 1:8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."
amen?
amen!
Perhaps "lectrix"?
The "Old Catholics" have gone completely liberal and ordain women priests. Perhaps you meant Traditionalists?
Ben Douglass,
Thanks for your kind correction. I was thinking of "Old Catholics" as being those who held to Trent but rejected Vatican I and II.

Dear Francis,
Yes, the Old Catholics rejected Vatican I. In those days, they considered themselves as conservatives keeping the Tradition as against modern innovations. Since then, however, they've gone liberal.
Perhaps "Traditional" would have been a better moniker, then.
