Wisdom on Lying

Proverbs 12:22 Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.

Proverbs 17:7 Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.

Proverbs 10:18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.

Psalm 120:2 Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.

Psalm 31:18 Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.

Especially appropriate for this day of the year.

Tur,

This wouldn't be a an April fools joke, would it? =D

Just kidding, it appears that I have material from Sacred Writ to pre-empt would-be pranksters!

Just a reminder of the fact that God takes truth-telling seriously.

TF,

It appears (not sure-- I going on the timing and last line of your post) that you are equating telling April Fools jokes (whether malicious or not, and whether extended or not, and regardless of consequence) with lying.... at least story-based jokes (versus practical jokes).

If this is the case, presumably you would extend this to all story based jokes.

... and so my question is, considering that such jokes are fictional tales, do you feel that the bible proscribes novels, short stories, and fiction in general?

If so, what is your rationale?
