Here's a quote from #4,...Vision:
"When eternal life is said to consist in the knowledge of God (Jn. 17:3) and happiness in his vision, this indeed shows that theology is also speculative, as having many theoretical objects. But we cannot from this infer that it is merely speculative because this knowledge itself is not only theoretical, but practical (1 Jn. 2:5).
I am just not connecting the dots at this phrase within that quote above:
"...this indeed shows that theology is also speculative,...."
Can you put some words to it and bring out an understanding for me?

I think that Turretin is trying to convey that understanding of theology is not just what we might call "mental" or "intellectual" but heartfelt: for it is not just bare knowledge but enjoyment.

that helps some.
I wonder if he was moving towards the idea of the "invisible" contrasting that that is visibly known to that that can only be known in this life by Faith?
Paul did write about looking at the invisible too.
Col 1:16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things were created through him and for him.
and
Heb 11:3 By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.
